TechCrunch Disrupt: Set your expectations and goals right

Is attending TechCrunch Disrupt going to be worth your while if you are a startup?

But what TechCrunch Disrupt is all about?

Being the world’s biggest and most impactful tech startup conference TechCrunch Disrupt gets better, upping its stakes every year. This year, taking place at Moscone Center West, San Francisco, Disrupt will be all about the startups, their game-changing founders and technologies – it has always been, so to say. From Reid Hoffman to Dara Khosrowshahi to Kirsten Green, the event will feature the most significant names in the tech world. Besides, you will hear the top startup players in conversation with TechCrunch editors.

At Disrupt, everybody is a startupper regardless of the fact, whether you’re an investor, founder, hacker or a tech pioneer. Not just interviews on-stage but Disrupt is the place where you can discover what a Startup Battlefield competition looks like, participate in a virtual Hackathon, meet hundreds of startups in Startup Alley, attend workshops and leverage amazing networking at After Parties…

And it is San Francisco, right where startup dreams started.

If you take startups very seriously as we do, then Disrupt SF 2018 is a “must-attend” for you and visiting Centilytics at booth number J106 on 5th of September will be your leverage. Despite everything, we are keeping it as real as ever.

TechCrunch DisruptSo, what should you expect if you do attend Disrupt?…

How to make the most out of the event?…

We have got you covered!

What should you aim for?

Being a startup, a company’s major focus should be on three things:

  1. Expanding your user base

The one thing that a company can definitely expect out of Disrupt is attention. With Battlefield competitions, Startup Alley, media, and press, it is an amazing opportunity for a company to spread awareness about their product among potential users.

  1. Meeting potential Investors

With such a vast variety of people from all over the world in attendance, Disrupt is a perfect opportunity for you to meet the right investors and get wonderful payoffs.

  1. Get your ideas in place

Disrupt is a stage for many-many smart people who live and breathe technology. The event might end but the conversation one makes at a platform like this stays longer. With the right pitch, a company’s product has very high chances for advancements long after the event is done.

Having a clear-cut view of what you want from the event can help elevate your chances while saving a lot of time and energy. Having team meetings before you head out for TechCrunch Disrupt might be just the right thing to do.

False expectations never pay-off

If there is one thing that can let down a company’s morale, it’s a false expectation. Disrupt, while being a big deal, does not guarantee big things to happen with a company. So, it is important to get our expectations in order as there are some things that we expect but might never come true.

  1. Getting a lot of attention

Disrupt is a perfect place to meet new people but that does not necessarily mean that your product will definitely get a lot of attention. It might be difficult to get people to the booth. The key to achieving your goal is to remember that you don’t need a lot of traffic to do what you want to do, instead, you just need to target the right type of people.

Tasks like acquiring new users, generating new leads, meeting more and more bloggers etc. could be the steps in the right direction.

  1. Getting huge funds from the investors

There is a possibility that you meet a potential investor without even knowing it. So, the best way of getting funded is by letting more and more people know about it. It is important to work hard.

It is best to be at your finest behavior at a convention like this and engage in more and more conversations as networking is always beneficial.

How should you prepare for TechCrunch Disrupt?

Preparing beforehand for an event like Disrupt can definitely put you on the front-foot. So, here are some tips which might prove beneficial to your business.

  1. You are as good as your Pitch

Practice your pitch to the extent that you’re able to pitch while doing your daily chores. You and your product should be as good as your pitch. Also, take the opinions of people on how your pitch works on them. Alter your pitch according to time as there are only so many people who can or cannot spare a lot of time to hear what you’ve got to say.

The most important thing is to cook up the most ideal version of your pitch and believe in it. Your zeal and commitment towards your product is the only thing that can get people excited about it.

  1. Be on your best behaviour

It is an unsaid rule that you’ve got to be on your best behaviour if you want yourself to be heard. With so many people in attendance, it is impossible to know if a person is a developer, media person, investor, or just another somebody.

Investors and Journalists might disguise themselves as random people just to get under your skin. So, it is important to treat everyone nicely and make your pitch.

  1. Networking is the key

Being the owner of a product or an idea, it is your responsibility to reach out to the perfect audience without expecting the reverse. Be as innovative with networking as you can be.

Plan ahead of time and support your team. Catch up with the people you’ve already met after the show gets over as everyone is not available to talk during the show, but they might sometime later.
